Kiev - The war between Ukraine and Russia begins with air strikes. The ability of fighter jets and unmanned aerial platforms or drones to be superior at that time. For the drone itself, a platform from Turkey called Bakraytar TB2 is always brought up by the media.

This Turkish drone is believed to be a "game changer" at the start of the war in February. Ukraine received about six TB2 units before the conflict with Russia. Then, the Ukrainian Air and Navy has received a total of about 20 drones.

The Bayraktar TB2 is the country's only attack drone. First deployed in October 2021, it was used to destroy 122mm D-30 separatist artillery in the breakaway Donbass region.

The capability of the Bayraktar TB2 drone has proven to be effective against Russian troops and their military assets. And not without reason, the TB2 in fact was once the exclusive drone of the United States military.

Although not the most advanced drone today, it is the standard equipment for modern warfare. In the past two years, Turkey's Bayraktar TB2 drones appeared not only in Ukraine, but also in Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Libya and Syria.

It is known that the price per unit of Bayraktar is only in the single digits of a million dollars, making it very popular in the market. Operators are not afraid to deploy them, even in the most serious conditions of war.

Turkish military drone maker Baykar has purchased a plot of land in Ukraine. Ankara intends to manufacture its unmanned platforms or drones there. This news was confirmed by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar to the Daily Sabah. The Ukrainian government agreed to a bilateral agreement on the construction of the Bayraktar plant in the country.

Engines, wheels or other parts of Ukrainian production could be used in the production of the drones, according to the ambassador. Baykar also previously said that it would set up a joint training and maintenance center for Turkish attack drones in Ukraine. The memorandum is a step towards joint production of Ukrainian-Turkish drones.

The Bayraktar TB2 drone itself is spearheading Turkey's global defense export push. Quoted from Daily Sabah, this attack drone has flown in the conflicts of Syria, Iraq, Libya, and Karabakh. As already mentioned above, Ukraine had ordered 20 of these drones, even before the war.

Bayraktar TB2 proved very helpful for Ukrainian troops against Russia. He had destroyed Moscow's artillery systems and armored vehicles.

German drones on the way

According to a report from Air Recognition, the German drone manufacturer has received an order from Ukraine. It is known that the drone ordered by Ukraine is a reconnaissance variant. This order is still in the preparation and processing stage. There is no further information regarding the procurement of this reconnaissance drone.

The drone manufacturer also said it would provide training for Ukrainian operators. This training will usually take more than four days. And for security reasons, there are also no details on how many and how many drones Ukraine will receive.

The German drones that will be received by Ukraine have advanced technology which is believed to double the strength of the Ukrainian army in terms of reconnaissance. He can fly very “silently”, then provide high-resolution video images.

This German remote reconnaissance drone is also equipped with advanced digital connectivity to communicate in real time with other systems.
