The KF-21 Boramae Fighter Jet Has Four Highly Advanced Core Technologies |
International Military - The KF-21 Boramae fighter jet made in South Korea is scheduled to make its maiden flight on July 19. The KF-21 Boramae, which will fly for the first time on July 19, is Prototype No. 1.
After the flight Prototype No. 1, Prototype No. 2 will start test flights no later than September. Meanwhile, No. 3 and 4 will also start test flights within this year, and the remaining No. 5 and 6 will start flying in the first half of next year.
If all test flights go well, then a contract for the production of the KF-21 aircraft will be signed in 2024 with deliveries to the South Korean Air Force starting in 2026.
Quoted from KBS, according to DAPA, the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet project cost 8.1 trillion won. Indonesia as a partner of South Korea bears 20 percent of the total cost, which is around 1.6 trillion won.
South Korea will get a total of 120 units for the KF-21 Boramae fighter jets. While Indonesia will get 48 units of these fighter jets.
Quoted from ainonline.com, the KF-21 Boramae is included in the 4.5 generation fighter jet class. This is because the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet is not equipped with internal weapons-carrying capabilities.
But in the future, the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet is said to be prepared to have a more stealthy variant than before. Apart from these shortcomings, it turns out that the KF-21 Boramae has an electronic warfare capability which is believed to be very good.
So that the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet is claimed to have a high level of survivability. The following are the four core technologies in the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet.
1. AESA
The KF-21 Boramae fighter jet will be equipped with an active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar. Not a foreign product, but the AESA used by the KF-21 Boramae, which is the development of Hanwha Systems.
2. RF
Then there is radio frequency (RF) technology which is also used on the KF-21 Boramae.
3. EOTP
The KF-21 Boramae fighter jet also uses an electro-optical targeting pod (EOTP) system.
4. IRST
Finally, the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet is equipped with infrared search and track technology (IRST).
