MLRS And HIMARS, Deadly Long Range Rocket Systems Ready To Be Delivered To Ukraine

International Military - US will transfer long-range rocket system to Ukraine. This was done to support Ukraine against Russia in the Donbas region. Ukrainian officials have asked the US to send the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) or High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). The weapon is said to be a significant upgrade from the current Ukrainian artillery.

Reporting from The Hill, the MLRS is capable of firing hundreds of kilometers away and the HIMARS is capable of firing the same types of ammunition as the MLRS. Defense officials did not specify what types of arms transfers would be announced.

However, The New York Times noted that the transfer is likely to be made next week. “Of course we are heeding and aware of Ukraine's requests, privately and publicly, for what is known as a multiple launch rocket system. And I'm not going to preempt a decision that hasn't been made yet," said Pentagon press secretary John Kirby.

Reporting from 19fortyfive.com, HIMARS refers to the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, which the Biden Administration will deliver to Ukraine as part of the next military aid package. Another possibility from HIMARS is the M270 Dual Launch Rocket System. The system was first proven in combat during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

This system also proved its mettle again during Operations Liberation Iraq and Operation Liberation Defensive and still remains the most common rocket artillery system in NATO.

Regarding HIMARS in particular, Mr. Trevithick and Rogoway emphasized that “Moving HIMARS to Ukraine could certainly be a much-needed advantage for the country's armed forces". However, this will not have any effect on the conflict. on conflict as some have suggested.”

Another positive that Trevithick and Rogoway give to the prospective acquisition of HIMARS Ukraine is that the system is likely to be a generally more accurate system. This is true even with unguided rockets, rather than any rocket artillery system currently in use in Ukraine.

Launching The Drive, what is certain is that the Ukrainian military's acquisition of the M270 or HIMARS provides clear benefits. It is fielding a new artillery rocket system that is in production and has an established supply chain in the West.

As is well known, at present, it is known that most of Ukraine's rocket artillery capabilities are derived from Soviet-era designs. Meanwhile, some of them have been modernized by domestic companies over the years.

Scanning the events since last February. I'm unsure what was meant by the statement, "However, this will not have any effect on the conflict as some have suggested.”
If this will not have any effect on the conflict, what is the purpose of sending the systems?
