Poland Plans to Send Additional 10 Leopard 2 Tanks to Ukraine

Warsaw - Poland will send 10 more German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine this week. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Poland, Mariusz Blaszczak, Tuesday (7/3/2023).

"Four (tanks) are already in Ukraine, another 10 will be delivered to Ukraine this week," Blaszczak told a news conference, as quoted by Reuters. Previously, Poland had promised to deliver a total of 14 Leopard 2 tanks.

Blaszczak heads to a meeting of European Union defense ministers in Stockholm on Tuesday to discuss European security and support for Ukraine. A number of European countries have indeed become the main supporters of Kiev in facing the onslaught of Moscow troops.

"We are also scheduled to have talks with Boris Pistrius, the German Defense Minister. The basic problem that we will talk about is the low availability of spare parts for the Leopard tank,” said Blaszczak.

According to him, this problem can be solved mainly by the German and Polish arms industries also being ready to produce these parts. "We are ready to launch a service center in Poland, which will handle the repair and servicing of the Leopard tanks delivered to Ukraine," said Blaszczak.
