Moscow - Russian air defense forces shot down two Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters in the Donetsk People's Republic in recent days during a special military operation in Ukraine. This was stated by the Spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, Monday (5/12/2022).

"The air defense capability shot down two Mi-8 helicopters of the Ukrainian Air Force near the settlement of Maryinka in the People's Republic of Donetsk," Konashenkov said, as quoted by TASS. "In addition, in the last 24 hours, they destroyed ten unmanned aerial vehicles in the residential areas of Vishnyovoye, Kirillovka and Stepnoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, Krasnosyolovka and Tokmak in the Zaporozhye Region," he continued.

Konashenkov also stated that Russian air defense systems intercepted two HIMARS rockets from a multiple launch rocket system near the community of Nologanskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic. "Russian troops launched an attack on the deployment site of a Ukrainian company tactical group in the Kharkov Region in the direction of Kupyansk, eliminating more than 60 militants in the past day," Konashenkov explained.

"In the Kupyansk direction, an attack was carried out on the deployment site of a Ukrainian corporate tactical group in the residential area of Tabayevka in the Kharkov Region. The attack obliterated the enemy's manpower and military equipment," he added.

It was also reported that Russian troops thwarted the Ukrainian army's attack on the Lugansk People's Republic in the Krasny Liman region and eliminated two enemy subversive groups in the past day. "In the direction of Krasny Liman, the decisive action of Russian troops thwarted the efforts of two Ukrainian corporate tactical groups to advance towards the settlements of Chervonopopovka and Zhitlovka in Lugansk People's Republic," the spokesman said.
