Russian Company 'Rostec' Releases Renderings of MC-21 Aircraft

Moscow - A consortium of state-owned companies Rostec released a rendering of the Russian domestically made single-aisle commercial aircraft, the MC-21, with the liveries of American Airlines and Lufthansa.

I don't know what it really means. But the company said that this pattern as a creation and participation in the framework of the contest Design Act-2022. "Participating in the Design Act-2022 contest, we decided to get creative and dress up the MC-21 in the livery of the world's largest airline," Rostec wrote on its Telegram account.

It added that for now, Lufthansa and American Airlines are using Boeing and Airbus aircraft. “But who knows what will happen in 5-10 years?” added Rostec.

As is known, the narrow body commercial aircraft market is dominated by Airbus and Boeing with their respective superior products, namely the A320neo and B737MAX.

Rostec said the composite materials on the MC-21 aircraft reached 40%. This is a record number for a medium-range aircraft. Airlines will get light and very economical aircraft.

The MC-21 features enlarged windows, wider luggage racks and the widest fuselage in the mid-range aircraft class, the company wrote.

The aircraft is currently carrying out testing of its domestically made engine, the Aviadvigatel PD-14. It is scheduled, the MC-21 will enter the market in 2024. Rostec said, the airline Aeroflot will benefit from this and become the first operator of this aircraft. "Lufthansa and American Airlines can queue after that," Rostec said.
