Moscow - The Russian government has announced that by the end of 2024 the Russian Air Force (VKS) will receive a total of 22 Su-57s and reach 76 units by 2028. To achieve this number, the United Aircraft Corporation's new Su-57 system test and production facility (UAC), part of Rostec, was expanded.

One of them is the expansion of the facility at Komsomolsk-on-Amur (KnAAZ) involving the construction of a number of new facilities including a shipyard for testing radio-electronic equipment, fuel boxes and a motor test station.

"UAC fulfills a major state contract in the coming years, the Ministry of Defense needs to supply 76 Su-57 fighter aircraft. In order to produce the required number of aircraft in high quality and on time, we have begun to expand and modernize our production facilities. Already in the second half of 2023, the new facility of the KnAAZ flight test station should receive the first aircraft,” said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy Director General of the Rostec State Corporation.

As part of the program to increase serial production of fifth-generation fighters, KnAAZ will also reconstruct capacity and expand production. This work will be carried out with funds from the federal budget.

The Sukhoi Su-57 is a stealth fighter jet designed by Russia to carry out air-to-air and air-to-surface combat missions. This aircraft is made to compete with the stealth fighter jet F-22 Raptor made in the United States.
