Several types of Russian tanks on the list include the T-72B, T-80BVM, T-72B, T-80U, and many others. Here are four Russian tanks that were destroyed by the Ukrainian armed forces.

The first Russian tank to be pretty much destroyed by Ukrainian forces was the T-72B3. Quoted from the Military Today page, the T-72B3 tank is the result of a Russian upgrade to the aging T-72B.

By design, the T-72B3 underwent several upgrades in its specifications, including a new engine, a new fire control system, and other improvements. In terms of armament, the tank retains the 125 mm Smoothbore gun with the addition of the latest version of the autoloader.

Then, the T-72B3 is also equipped with the 9M119 Svir anti-tank missile launch feature. As of 2020, there were around 558 T-72B tanks upgraded to the T-72B3. In its history of use, this tank has been in use since 2014. In addition, the T-72B3 was also present in Syria in 2017.

Most recently, during the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian war, this tank was widely used. Unfortunately, some of them were destroyed by the Ukrainian armed forces.

This design was first introduced to the public in 2017. With a weight of about 46 tons, this tank is equipped with a crew of 3 and a GTD-1250TF engine, gas turbine and can reach a distance of up to 500 km.

Looking at the improvements, the T-80BVM tank gets a slight upgrade in the form of armor protection equipped with a Relikt explosive reactive protection kit. In addition, the tank is also equipped with a passive countermeasure system that increases protection against several types of anti-tank guided missiles.

In armament, the T-80BVM retains the 125mm Smoothbore gun with the addition of the latest version of the 2A46M-4 gun. Then, this tank can also launch 9M119M Refleks anti-tank missiles with a range of up to 4-5 km. Its secondary armament consists of a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun and a roof-mounted 12.7mm machine gun.

Historically, the T-72 is a Soviet-made tank that was produced until 1990. Quoted from the Military Today page, in its development this tank has received many changes in its newest variants.

One of them is the T-72B which Russia has also deployed in the war against Ukraine 2022. The T-72B is an improved version of the T-72A with a thicker and stronger turret armor. In addition, the T-72B is also equipped with Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor which makes its protection even higher.

In addition, there is also additional armor that further strengthens the durability of this tank. The T-72B model appeared in 1985. By 2020, it will become one of the most widely used tanks in active service of the Russian Army. So do not be surprised if this type of tank was also deployed when Russia invaded Ukraine.

In addition to the three tanks above, the type of T-80U owned by Russia was also destroyed by the Ukrainian military. Quoted from the Military Today page, the T-80U battle tank is an upgrade from the T-80 and has been in operation since the days of the Soviet Union, in 1985 to be exact.

The T-80U has armor that has been upgraded from the previous version. Featuring composite armor, this tank is also equipped with the Kontakt-5 Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) block. In terms of weapons, the T-80U uses a Smoothbore 2A46M-1 125 mm cannon equipped with an autoloader.

In addition, this Russian tank can also fire 9M119M Refleks anti-tank missiles with a maximum range of 5 km. Its secondary armament consists of a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and a roof mounted 12.7 mm machine gun.
