Kiev - Supreme Commander of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny admits nearly 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the Russian invasion began. The confession was revealed on Monday (22/8/2022), reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

"Ukrainian children need special attention because their father has gone to the front and was probably among the nearly 9,000 heroes killed," said Valeriy Zaluzhny.

Ukrainian officials rarely give details of the military losses suffered in the nearly six months of the war. The last estimate was in April when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said up to 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed and 10,000 wounded.
