Kiev - Ukraine will again get supplies of weapons to deal with Russia. This time the British will send a number of artillery guns and more than 1,600 anti-tank guns.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the aid was to strengthen Ukraine's defenses against Russia. The impetus came after resigning British Prime Minister Boris Johnson last month pledged an additional $1.2 billion in military support. This brings the total British support to Ukraine since the start of the war, which Russia calls "special operations" to $2.7 billion.

Quoted from US News on Thursday (21/7/2022), Ben Wallace said "Together with our international partners, we will ensure Ukraine has the tools to defend their country against Putin's illegal invasion."

Ben Wallace also added that the UK would also provide counter-battery radar systems, hundreds of drones and more than 50,000 rounds of ammunition. Britain has supplied Ukraine with a wide range of military equipment including nearly 7,000 anti-tank guns, hundreds of missiles and armored fighting vehicles, and has also trained Ukrainian soldiers. This is Ukraine's newest arms supply aid.

Earlier the United States (US) announced it would send four more advanced M142 HIMARS rocket systems to Ukraine as part of a security assistance package to counter the Russian invasion.

This was announced by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Wednesday Washington time. "Later this week, we will launch the next package of weapons, ammunition and equipment for Ukraine," Austin said while hosting a virtual meeting of the US-led Ukraine Contact Group.

Lloyd Austin also added that this assistance will include four advanced HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) rocket systems, which have been used effectively by Ukraine and which have made a difference on the battlefield. And it will include more MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) shells and artillery ammunition
