International Military - President Vladimir Putin warned the West that Russia will strike new targets if the United States (US) starts supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles, the TASS news agency reported on Sunday (05/06/2022).

"If such missiles are supplied, we will strike targets that we have not hit," Putin was quoted as saying in an interview with state television channel Rossiya-1.

Putin did not name targets Russia plans to hit if Western countries start supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles.

"We understand that the supply (of advanced rocket systems) from the US and some other countries is meant to make up for this loss of military equipment," Vladimir Putin said. "This is nothing new. It doesn't change anything basically," said Vladimir Putin.

he continued. "These are all multiple launch rocket systems and the Ukrainian army operates similar Soviet and Russian-made Grad, Smerch and Uragan rocket systems."

According to him, the range 'depends on the rocket used and not on the system itself.' 'What we hear today and what we understand, this is a rocket that flies up to a distance of 45-70 km depending on the type of rocket.

The same goes for the Grad, Uragan, and Smerch rocket systems I'm talking about. They also have a range of 40-70 km and there is nothing new about that," Putin explained.

Previously, Ukraine had been looking for Multiple Rocket Launch Systems (MLRS), such as the M270 and M142 HIMARS to attack troops and weapons stocks behind Russian troops.

US President Joe Biden announced plans this week to deliver the precision HIMARS rocket system to Ukraine after receiving assurances from Kiev that it would not use it to hit targets inside Russia.
