US Prepares the Fastest Aircraft in the World Called Son of Blackbird |
The successor to the SR-71 Blackbird, often referred to as the “Son of Blackbird,” has been a topic of interest and speculation for some time. Several projects and concepts have emerged with the goal of creating an aircraft with capabilities similar to or surpassing the iconic SR-71.
The Son of Blackbird is a hypersonic aircraft that will be able to fly at Mach 6, or six times the speed of sound. This speed would make it the fastest aircraft ever built. This aircraft will be built by Lockheed Martin, the company that also built the legendary Blackbird aircraft. The Blackbird was a supersonic jet aircraft used by the US Air Force during the Cold War.
This aircraft is capable of flying at Mach 3.2, or three times the speed of sound. Son of Blackbird will use the latest hypersonic technology to achieve its incredible speeds. This aircraft will be equipped with a ramjet engine that will start when it reaches supersonic speed.
Construction of Son of Blackbird is expected to take up to five years. The aircraft is scheduled to take to the air for the first time in 2025.
The aircraft will have a wide range of military applications, including reconnaissance, strike and electronic warfare. Son of Blackbird will also have the potential to be used for commercial flights, such as long-haul flights.
