International Military - The US Navy (US Navy) received the USS Augusta Coastal Warship (LCS 34) from the Austal USA shipyard on May 13, 2023. This is the second LCS (Littoral Combat Ship) delivered by Austal USA, following after the USS Marinette (LCS 25 ) in February.

LCS 25 is the Freedom class, while LCS 34 is the Independence class. Austal USA is still making two more Independence variant LCS Ships, namely USS Kingsville (LCS 36) and USS Pierre (LCS 38).

The name USS Augusta was first used as the name of a submarine, namely USS Augusta (SSN 710). This ship served for 24 years and was decommissioned on February 11, 2009. While the second USS Augusta is LCS 34. This is a type of Coastal Warship capable of moving fast and agile at speeds of more than 40 knots.

This ship can be operated in a nearshore environment as well as in the open sea. The company says the LCS has the capability to counter modern maritime threats, including swarming mines and small vessels.

The ship's crew complement is around 70 sailors and officers, and it has a range of over 4,000 nautical miles.
