Moscow - Russia is one of the countries with the strongest military in the world. In addition to quite a lot of personnel, they also have a variety of powerful military weapons with terrible abilities.

Having the status of one of the largest powers in the world, Russia has various types of sophisticated weaponry that also support the combat power of its troops when they are on the battlefield. Of the many, one that is quite interesting is a self-propelled mortar named 2S4 Tyulpan.

Quoted from the Eurasian Times, Tuesday (31/1/2023), Moscow is said to have deployed a number of 2S4 Tyulpan units in Ukraine. In its status, the Tyulpan 2S4 is reported as the largest mortar system which is claimed to be able to destroy fortifications in various battlefields.

Prior to Ukraine, it was reported that this weapon had been used in countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Chechnya. Historically, the 2S4 Tyulpan was developed in the late 1960s and entered service with the Soviet Union Army around 1971.

This Self-Propelled Mortar nicknamed 'Tulip' is the only one that uses a 240 mm mortar in the world. According to the designer, conventional projectiles that can be fired from this weapon can attack targets up to 10 km away, while active-reactive projectiles can reach up to 20 km.

Due to its relatively large size, the 2S4 Tyulpan has a limited range and low rate of fire. However, on the other hand the aim is so strong that the impact can be felt quite far away. Armed with 20 mm thick armor, there are 4 crews driving this 2S4 Tyulpan. Usually, they would also be followed by soldiers in separate armored carriers.

On the engine side, this Russian Self-Propelled Mortar is equipped with a V-59 diesel which can produce 520 HP. In addition, there is also a modified chassis of the Krug missile system and is referred to as the Su-100P. In addition to the main weapon in the form of 240mm mortars, there are also a number of other equipment that support attacks. Among them are laser-guided weapons to Sayda incendiary missiles.

Previously, 2S4 Tyulpan was also equipped with ZB4V bullets which were equipped with nuclear bombs and could destroy cities. However, the international community forbids its use, so that Moscow also claims to have destroyed the dangerous bullet.
