US State Department Approved Sales of PAC 3 MSE Missile System to Switzerland

Washington - The US State Department has agreed to the possibility of foreign military sales (FMS) Missile Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC) 3 Missile Segments Enhanced (MSE) and related equipment. Sales value is estimated at $ 700 million. This was published by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on 15 November. Furthermore, DSCA conveyed the certification needed to inform the US Congress about the possibility of this FMS.

Previously, the Swiss government had asked to buy up to 72 missiles Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC) 3 Missile Segment Enhanced (MSE) with other related equipment. The proposed sales will support foreign policy and the national security goals of the United States by helping to improve the security of European -friendly countries which continue to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in Europe, DSCA wrote.


Regarding the patriot air defense system, this is an air defense system with medium distance capability. Patriot or Patriot (Phased Array Tracking to Intercept of Target) Advanced Capability-Three (PAC-3) is designed to fight tactical ballistic missiles, cruising missiles, and sophisticated aircraft.

The PAC-3 missile uses Hit-to-Kill technology to turn off its target. The PAC-3 system update has provided a significant increase in developing threats, meets user requirements, and increases joint interoperability.
