International Military - Lockheed Martin of the United States will deliver the first M142 HIMARS High Mobility Artillery Rocket System to Poland next year. This was confirmed through a tweet by Deputy Prime Minister of Poland who is also the Minister of National Defense Mariusz Baszczak on November 17.

Earlier in November 2018, the US Department of State had made a decision approving a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Poland of 20 HIMARS and other related equipment at an estimated cost of USD 655 million.

On 26 May 2022, Baszczak announced the signing of a Letter of Request (LOR) with the United States for the acquisition of 500 M142 HIMARS. This weapon system strengthens the Polish Army's artillery capabilities. Citing information from Mariusz BÅ‚aszczak, Lockheed Martin will provide an additional 200 M142 HIMARS to Poland.

In the war in Ukraine, the M142 HIMARS became one of the most popular artillery systems and has demonstrated great efficiency in terms of precision and destruction against Russian troops. M142 HIMARS is capable of carrying six rockets or one missile. The system, operated by a crew of three, is self-loading and locates itself.

The M142 HIMARS provides responsive, highly accurate and highly lethal rocket fire and surface-to-surface missiles from a range of 15 to 300 km.
