5 List of Advanced Tanks Owned by the United States

International Military - The United States (US) as a developed country has around 6,333 sophisticated tanks spread across all of its military ranks. Tanks are vehicles that have an important role in maintaining national security from external enemy attacks. Tanks are made of armored materials specifically designed to survive in the front position in every war.

The following is a row of advanced tanks belonging to the United States

1. Tank M1A1 Abrams

The M1A1 Abrams main battle tank was developed by General Dynamics. It is a further development of the M1 Abrams. This tank was introduced in 1985 and production started the same year.

The M1A1 has better armor protection compared to its predecessors. The M1A1's forward turret and hull feature advanced composite armor reinforced with depleted uranium mesh for increased protection. The M829A2 armor-piercing bag was designed specifically for the M1A1 to counter the threat posed by the then-later Soviet-Russian MBTs such as the T-80U and T-90, which were equipped with Kontakt 5 explosion reaction armor.

2. Tank M1A2 Abrams

The M1A2 Abrams tank was approved for production in 1990. The M1A2 represents the US military's technological advancement over the basic M1A1 design and is the most advanced armor in the world. The most significant increase is the addition of the Inter-Vehicle Information System (IVIS).

The IVIS system enables automatic and continuous exchange of data between vehicles. By inputting the position data/navigation system (POSNAV) into the ship, unit commanders can automatically track the location and progress of subordinates without assigning a vehicle crew.

Additionally, enemy positions can be identified, plotted, and disseminated, while reports and artillery requests can be formatted, sent, and processed automatically. Finally, chart control procedures and operational orders can be quickly distributed through the IVIS system.

3. Tank Textron RIPSAW M5

Textron Systems has announced its latest RIPSAW development namely "RIPSAW M5". This unmanned tank is the future battle tank, multi-role development, versatility and future growth. The lightweight chassis can reach 45 mph on fast-moving surfaces and carry up to 3,000 pounds of payload.

In comparison, the midsize chassis has a top speed of 40 mph and a payload of 8,000 lbs. The power pack (diesel-hybrid-electric structure) on the device allows the vehicle to balance the main forces and act as a kind of wingman for frontline units arriving in conflict zones.

4. Tank XM8 / M8 AGS

The development vehicle carried the name "XM8" and is usually written as "XM8 Armored Gun System (AGS)" with the intention of referring to the production model "M8". This type is built on a traditional track undercarriage with six medium-sized road wheels on the track sides, one drive wheel at the rear and one track wheel at the front (no track idler pulley).

The main weapon is the improved XM35 105mm main gun, with which the XM8 carries 30 rounds to fire. The 105mm main gun is located in the turret, allowing it to be aimed at the target 360 degrees.

The turret regiment is equipped with an optional M2 Browning 12.7mm heavy machine gun, which can be used against low flying air threats as well as light armored vehicles. With this complete arsenal, it will certainly paralyze the enemy quickly

5. Tank M103

The tank is a tank similar to the previous type found in every M4 Sherman base. Therefore, the Sherman I (which is the basis of the M4 Sherman) is used in the new Sherman Firefly, as well as the Sherman I Hybrid (the M4 Composite is called sch because of its welded and cast frame construction) and Sherman V (M4A4 Scherman)).

Three variants of the Firefly were produced and these were characterized by the type of Sherman chassis they used. Firefly can attack enemies multiple times within range, and Firefly can effectively hit targets around 1,000 meters away. It should be noted that this Sherman to Fireflies conversion essentially inherited the "adequate" armor protection from the original design meaning no additional armor protection was provided over the new Firefly design.
