Internationak Military - The US Air Force (USAF) maximizes the weapons systems on their HH-60G Pave Hawk attack helicopters. This integration is to test a new concept in helicopter firepower enhancement. The concept is to integrate four M240 machine guns into the helicopter cabin.

So far the existing HH-60 weapons configuration includes two M240 machine gun cannons, a GAU-2C 7.62 mm minigun, or a GAU 18/A .50 caliber machine gun.

This new concept requires the integration of three separate sections in each helicopter door to support the mounting of two M240 guns, the USAF said. To accommodate it, the team used a basic mount as well as adding another mount on the helicopter.

It is said, with the M240 weaponry the helicopter can carry out combat search and rescue missions in dangerous areas. This new capability is cost effective and transferable to the new HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopter which is slated to replace the HH-60G upon retirement.
