International Military - Bayraktar TB2 is an unmanned aerial vehicle or combat drone developed by the Turkish company Baykar Makina. The Bayraktar TB2 combat drone is being used by Ukraine for the war against Russian troops. Bayraktar TB2 is a medium altitude attack drone, which has long endurance. This drone can be used for reconnaissance, surveillance and ground attack. The Bayraktar TB2 was widely used by the Turkish military during the conflicts in Syria and Libya.

Quoted from today's military page, Friday (18/11/2022), this drone reportedly destroyed a number of Russian-made Pantsyr-S1 short-range air defense systems. In 2020 these drones flew more than 200,000 hours, a record for the Turkish aviation industry. These attack drones are exported to Ukraine, in 2018 Kiev ordered a total of 6 drones and 3 control stations and missiles for the drones. Deliveries of the Bayraktar TB2 drone started in 2019.


In 2021 another contract was signed between Ankara and Kiev for the purchase or co-production of another 48 drones for the Ukrainian military. In 2021 Ukraine successfully used these combat drones for the first time against Russian-backed separatists. The Bayraktar TB2 proved to be a very effective unmanned vehicle and had significant achievements during military conflicts.

This armed drone is powered by a single Rotax 912 internal combustion engine, producing 105 hp. This attack drone can travel at a maximum speed of over 220 km and carry up to 300 liters of fuel. The maximum range is up to 300 km and the operational altitude is 5.48 km. At a maximum altitude of 7.62 km this drone has a maximum operating time of 27 hours.

The Bayraktar TB2 drone can carry a maximum payload of up to 150 kg, consisting of 4 MAM-C or MAM-L missiles. The missile is specifically designed for drones and light attack aircraft with a low payload capacity. This missile has laser guidance to target stationary or moving targets.

The MAM-C missile weighs 6.5 kg, while the MAM-L weighs 22 kg. The MAM-C is available with a multipurpose warhead, which has armor-piercing, high-explosive, and incendiary effects. The MAM-L is also available with multipurpose and thermobaric warheads. The Bayraktar TB2 proved highly effective in Turkish military service and was dubbed the Turkish Pantsyr killer. In 2022, Bayraktar TB2 destroys 11 Pantsyr-S1 systems during various military conflicts. Although some of these drones were also lost due to enemy shooting.
