If this turns out to be true, the two leaders of Russia and Ukraine will meet face to face for the first time since hostilities broke out in February. On the US side, the White House has said that if Putin attends the G7, Mr. Zelensky should also be present.

On October 6, US President Joe Biden said he did not rule out a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at this year's G20 summit, chaired by Indonesia.

Currently, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have not yet responded to the two leaders' plans to attend the G20. On September 16, President Putin said that the Russian delegation would attend the G20 summit, but he had not yet decided whether he would attend in person. "I've been to Bali. It's a beautiful place, but the view doesn't matter here," the Russian leader said, TASS reported.

The G20 multilateral forum (15-16 November) in Bali is expected to be attended by leaders from 20 leading economies, along with guest countries such as the UAE and Ukraine. This year's G20 agenda will focus on peace, health, digital transformation and sustainable energy.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo is likely to call for a ceasefire and the reopening of grain export corridors to ensure food security. He also met with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine in June.
