Moscow - The Kremlin's envoy to the annexed Crimea region says Britain risks being crushed because of its decision to supply Ukraine with long-range Storm Shadow missiles to aid its fight against Russia.

Crimea's permanent representative under the Russian president, Georgiy Muradov, told Russia's state news agency RIA Novosti in an interview that Britain could turn into a ruined territory after sending the weapons to Ukraine. "The British island itself risks turning into devastated territory (after providing Ukraine with uranium shells and long-range missiles) aimed at Russia's Crimea," Muradov said.

Muradov was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying that Britain was at the forefront of its unprovoked direct aggression against Russia. "This conflict has nothing to do with Great Britain. I would like to believe that not all English people have lost the instinct of self-preservation, which, it seems, the foreigners who rule England are trying to deprive them of," said Muradov.

Muradov's remarks come ahead of a much-anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive to recapture Russian-occupied territories, including Crimea, which Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed in 2014.

In the summer of 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to retake the Black Sea peninsula. Earlier, on Thursday, Britain became the first country to supply Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been asking Western allies for long-range missiles for months to help his country defend against Russia. Russia has warned that providing weapons capable of striking Russian territory could lead to an escalation of war.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the cruise missiles were Ukraine's best chance of defending itself from Russia's continued brutality. The Storm Shadow is an air-launched attack missile developed by the United Kingdom and France with a range of over 250 kilometers.

Last month, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mikhail Podolyak told Radio Liberty, which is funded by the US government, he believed his Kiev forces would be in Crimea within five months. Fabian Hoffmann, a missile technology expert and doctoral researcher at the University of Oslo, said in a Twitter thread that Storm Shadow provides Ukraine in principle with a very powerful long-range strike capability against targets at operational and strategic depth.

Hoffmann said Ukraine could potentially attack the Kerch Strait Bridge, which is Russia's only land route with the Crimean peninsula and a key supply route for Russian troops amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Oleksiy Arestovych, a former adviser to Ukraine's president who resigned in January, said a Kiev retaliatory strike would target the Kerch Bridge.

Arestovych told the YouTube channel Feygin Live, which is hosted by Russian lawyer and former opposition politician Mark Feygin, that one goal of a Ukrainian counterattack might be an operation in the south of the country that would seek to cut Russia off a land corridor to Crimea, paving the way for Ukraine to retake Crimea.

"We will destroy the Crimea Bridge. All this is possible under certain conditions, we are currently setting the conditions," Arestovych said at the time. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine for the bridge attack in October 2022, although Kiev has denied involvement.

Well, when the Ukraine destroys the Kerch bridge with UK missiles, then Russia might go as far as destroying London Bridge.
