International Military - After previously sending 12 F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets to Poland, now the United States is also sending its B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber to neighboring Ukraine.

The arrival of the plane was confirmed by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak. Blaszczak said that the cooperation between Poland and the United States is getting closer. It did not say how many B-52s were deployed and how long they would be stationed in Poland.

Regarding the B-52 Stratofortress, it is a long-range strategic bomber and flies at subsonic speeds. This Boeing-made aircraft has been operated by the US Air Force since the 1950s.

The B-52 made its maiden flight on April 15, 1952 and entered service with the USAF in 1955. The Stratofortress is capable of carrying bombs up to 32 tons and covering a range of 8,800 miles (14,080 km) without aerial refueling.

A number of B-52Hs are currently undergoing upgrades and extended service life and will be the newest variants. The USAF plans to use this aircraft until the 2050s.
