International Military - The Pentagon said Thursday (4/8/2022) that the United States Navy strike force led by the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan will remain in Taiwanese territory. This was done after China launched a ballistic missile at the area.

In 2015, the USS Ronald Reagan replaced the USS George Washington as Carrier Strike Group Five. The USS Ronald Reagan is the ninth ship of the Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier used by the United States Navy.

Ronald Reagan's name was pinned on this ship in honor of United States President Ronald Reagan, who served in 1981-1989. The USS Ronald Reagan was ordered in December 1994, and built at Northrop Grumman Newport News, Virginia. The USS Ronald Reagan has been in service since July 2003.

The USS Ronald Reagan is armed with the Sea Sparrow missile system and torpedoes. The deck and underbelly of this ship can accommodate 90 wing planes and helicopters. On each voyage, the ship is escorted by the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), cruiser USS Antietam (CG-54), up to a squadron of 15 destroyers (Desron 15).

The Ronald Reagan seal design was created with the help of staff at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation. There is a three-plane symbol on the seal, representing the three major military operations that President Ronald Reagan directed while in office, namely Operation Urgent Fury in 1983, Operation El Dorado Canyon in 1986, Operation Praying Mantis in 1988.

This ship has a length of 332.8 meters. The USS Ronald Reagan is equipped with a nuclear reactor propulsion system. In addition, this ship uses 2 Westinghouse A4W nuclear reactors coupled to 4 steam turbines that drive 4 shafts. The ship's output power is 260,000 shp, which supplies the ship with a maximum speed of 30 knots.

The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan has sensors and processing systems in the form of an SPS-48E 3-D air search radar, SPQ-9B fire control radar, 2 SPN-46 air traffic control radars, and an SPN-41 instrument landing system radar.
